During the first Sunday Night Football game of the season, Matthew Stafford made his debut with the Los Angeles Rams and did not disappoint. He recorded the highest passer rating (156.1) of his career that also represented the highest RTG by any QB making his debut for a new team in NFL history. He’s clearly the perfect type of Quarterback for Sean McVay’s innovative offense and has the best group of weapons he’s ever had around him (considering the lackluster players he had in Detroit besides Megatron of course).
While few people doubted what Stafford would be capable of in LA’s offense, there were some skeptics that he would excel this quickly, especially against one of the more respected defenses in the NFL. However, Detroit’s all-time passing leader lit it up when given the opportunity, completing multiple 50-yard PASS TD, which is actually as many 50-yd passes as LA completed ALL of last season. Stafford provides a whole new dimension to Sean McVay’s offense and is why LA should be considered the favorites in an all-time great division.
