Each year it seems as though the MLB talent pool grows. In 2021, the amount of young and promising talent has reached an all-time high. Before this season, the MLB has never seen multiple players finish top-3 in MVP voting (in either league) that were under the age of 23, however 2021 featured THREE different players 22 or younger finish top-3. Each team has young talent now and fans are the long-term winners with stars to watch for years to come. Baseball will appeal to more people, growing the game in the process.

MLB HAS NEVER HAD MORE PROMISING YOUNG TALENT THAN RIGHT NOW

A team that many expected to not make the playoffs in 2021, the San Francisco Giants, ended up winning their division in front of the free-spending Dodgers, thanks to multiple veteran resurgences and breakouts. Baseball will remain one of the best sports to watch because of its unpredictability and rise of young talent to serve as role models for future generations despite the league’s inability to market their stars adequately.

With the emergence of young superstars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Shohei Ohtani, Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto, and Rafael Devers among others, the MLB is in a prime position to capitalize on their talent. The 2021 season will be one to remember for multiple reasons, including a miracle Braves championship run that nobody expected, but the young talent of the league is the most promising takeaway from the season, and something that can carry on for years (and potentially decades to come).
