The NFL 2020 season has begun with the reigning Super Bowl champions matched up with another superstar QB-led team in Texas that not only featured the two highest-paid athletes in the game of football, but also a AFC Divisional Playoffs re-match. Houston had a sour taste in their mouth for eight months after blowing a 24-point lead in that game and that taste didn’t get any better after a sizable season-opening loss.

This post will be updated with the most entertaining highlights from NFL Week 1’s games as they take place:

The biggest story from Opening Day was Clyde Edwards-Helaire collosal debut performance in Week 1. He showed his lofty potential in this high-powered offense as a similar version to what Kareem Hunt once brought to KC. He wasn’t the only rookie who had himself a day as 4th Rd pick L’Jarius Sneed came away with his first career interception during his first career game thanks to the team’s defensive leader Tyrann Mathieu pressuring the QB.

Coming off a few disappointing seasons, David Johnson likely wasn’t the first name to come to mind of who would score the first touchdown of the 2020 season, but that’s exactly what happened for the new Texans RB whose out to prove Bill O’Brien right for acquiring him along with a draft pick in exchange for a premium WR like DeAndre Hopkins.

Houston’s most productive offensive player on Thursday was Will Fuller (8 REC, 112 YDS), but none of his catches were too spectacular. The same can’t be said about Jordan Akins who had every intention of taking some ankles for these yards after catch.

Right from the jump, it looked like the Chiefs could dominate this game as Patrick Mahomes found Demarcus Robinson for a deep bomb that was sure to put six on the board. However, after review, it was determined Robinson didn’t come down with the catch. Instead, it took a little longer for the reining champs to get going, but once they did, they put up 31 unanswered points on Houston, just like they did in the AFC Divisional game.

With 0 TDs to show for his work with less than 7:30 left in the game, Deshaun Watson made sure not to get shutout in the season opener as he found Jordan Akins for the TD before running one in himself later in the 4th Qtr.

In addition to a full day’s worth of highlights, each team’s franchise QB also had other moments in the spotlight during the SNF broadcast as they orchestrated the two teams locking arms in a sign of equality before the game, and a had comical moment after Deshaun was pushed out of bounds near KC’s side, where the two players Chicago wishes they drafted instead of Mitch Trubisky were literally sitting side-by-side in the middle of the game.
