With the New York Mets honoring the greatest Met of all-time in their first game since Tom Seaver’s passing, the current face of the team honored him in the best way he could. Alonso wasn’t alone on the heroics as a young rookie and a surprising HR leader were also responsible for clutch knocks on September 3rd. Clayton Kershaw continued his dominant 2020 season by etching his name into the record books while the White Sox got back on track with some bombs that aren’t coming back.

On a night the Mets were honoring the legendary Tom Seaver, it looked like the Yankees would be the team in New York celebrating a victory. However, Aroldis Chapman, who’s currently appealing a three-game suspension, blew a 9th inning save at the hands of J.D. Davis before Pete Alonso ended the game with one swing of the bat just 24 hours after launching a moonshot

Anybody who thought Toronto Blue Jays OF Teoscar Hernandez would be tied for the HR lead with three weeks left should go get a lottery ticket quickly. But out of all 13 dingers from Hernandez’s breakout 2020 season, none were bigger than this tie-breaking 3-run shot in extra innings.

10 days ago, Bryce Harper said the Phillies have to “win 9 out of the next 10 games.” The Phillies responded by… doing exactly that thanks to the young rookie Alec Bohm who hit it just far enough with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to officially solidify Philly as the hottest team in the league right now.

Speaking of Harper, he caught the young Luis Garcia napping with this casual throw back to 1B for the unorthodox out.

Any commentary of Clayton Kershaw’s demise have been greatly overstated as the 3x Cy Young award winner is back in a prime position to win another one as he now owns a stellar 1.50 ERA on the season after carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning. While he didn’t finish with 0 hits allowed, he did become the third youngest and fourth fastest player to ever record 2,500 career strikeouts.

The most exciting offensive team in the league got back on track after two straight losses to the Twins thanks in part to a couple moonshots from some of Chi-town’s most fierce power hitters.

The hot corner in New York has seen Gio Urshela make multiple impressive plays while this is Aledmys Diaz’s first appearance on the must-see MLB highlights while wearing an Astros uniform.

The beginning of the season saw many inside the park HRs over a short period of time, but as the league has gotten their gloves on straight, far less batters are going from the batter’s box to home plate without trotting in between. However, Trea Turner has the speed to pull off a little-league HR in almost any ballpark if the outfielder makes even the slightest mistake.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
