This night will always be remembered for Manny Machado’s walk-off Grand Slam, but Albert Pujols’ historic RBI and the MLB debut of the 2018 No.1 Overall Pick make August 19 a special day in the game of baseball for more reasons than one. Clutch shots from the Mets, White Sox, and Indians along with gold glove-caliber plays from pitchers are just the icing on top.

The third walk-off Grand Slam of the 2020 season (first one not in Oakland) comes off the bat of Manny Machado who lasered this 3-2 pitch with his team down one run to end the game from one swing of the bat.

Joey Gallo’s clutch bomb in the 9th proved to be meaningless in the end.

Fernando Tatis Jr. also added ANOTHER home run to his MVP campaign.

The only player that has more career RBI’s than Albert Pujols is now Hank Aaron as The Machine has tied Alex Rodriguez for the second-most runs batted in of all-time (2,086).

It’s not everyday a No.1 overall pick makes his MLB debut, but Detroit’s top-10 overall prospect got that opportunity on August 19th, 2020 as the 2018 first overall selection showed his promising repertoire for seven Ks, the first seven of many.

Fellow former top-100 prospect Dane Dunning also made his debut during this matchup as the duo became the first pair of pitchers to each record 7+ Ks in their MLB debut in the same game

Spoiling Mize’s debut were the pulveriing power hitters in the heart of Chicago’s lineup as Jose Abreu took the lead in the 8th inning with his solo shot before Encarnacion followed him with an 1-RBI dinger to add some insurance.

With the game tied in the top of the 9th inning, Michael Conforto stepped up to the plate and made sure the score wouldn’t be the same by the time he left the batter’s box as he banged this 2-1 offering over the outfielder’s head in center.

The second game of a double-header between the Cubs and Cardinals was all tied up in the last inning of the game before David Bote came through with this go-ahead base hit that gave the Cubs some revenge for their loss earlier in the day.

A recurring theme on Wednesday night was hard hit balls up the middle, only to be robbed of base hits by the pitcher playing some defense and helping himself out.

Less than 24 hours after smashing a 3-run bomb in the 10th inning to lead Cleveland to victory, Santana hits another 3-run shot. This time it’s to break a 0-0 tie in the 6th inning that gave Cleveland a lead they would never surrender.

Infielders were showing off their gloves on Wednesday as Gio Urshela, Carlos Correa, and Kolten Wong all made spectacular plays that helped their cases for a Gold Glove Award in 2020.

Arguably the most entertaining player in the league is also the most dominant one this season as Trevor Bauer pitched another 7-inning complete game shutout, this time allowing only a single hit while racking up nine Ks to lower his ERA to a league-leading 0.68. His antics before and after the game caught some attention as well in typical Trevor Bauer fashion.

Josh Staumont raised the velocity and the elevation on these 2 Ks, showing off his extreme arm speed on the mound.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
