On the last day of 2020 before the NFL season begins, Major League Baseball made sure to take advantage of getting in the headlines as the Braves & Brewers absolutely dominated their opponents at a historic rate on Roberto Clemente Day, where the Mets and A’s enjoyed getting their wins in crunch time.

The main story in Major League Baseball on Wednesday was the waxing the Braves and Brewers handed the Marlins and Tigers as both teams made history with their continuous onslaught against their opponent.

Not only did Milwaukee score a whopping 19 runs, but Corbin Burnes was nearly unhittable in Detroit.

Adam Duvall deserves his own section in this edition of the must-see MLB highlights as his performance was off the charts thanks to a 2-run, 3-run, and 4-run HR on the day that added up to a ridiculous 9 RBIs, almost 50% of his season total entering the day. Not to mention, this comes exactly a week after a 3-HR game at Fenway.

Near the beginning of the season, Ramon Laureano was suspended multiple games for his role in the A’s-Astros brawl. On September 9th, the A’s OF got his revenge as he walked it off to reduce the reigning AL champs record to .500 (22-22).

The Mets were already trailing by one run in the top of the 6th inning with two outs and the bases loaded. Rio Ruiz took advantage of the offensive opportunity by driving the ball to the wall, until Michael Conforto miraculously made the catch that even surprised himself. The three runs (at least) saved by this catch helped the Mets mount the comeback that was capped off by Alonso in the 8th.

In addition to Michael Conforto’s incredible play at the track, his teammate Luis Guillorme along with Randal Grichuk and Yoan Moncada made some gold glove-caliber plays on Wednesday that deserve some recognition.

The NL Cy Young race is becoming a very exciting one with 2x reigning Cy Young Jacob deGrom fully in the mix, along with Clayton Kershaw, Yu Darvish, and Trevor Bauer who produced another brilliant performance on Wednesday to lower his ERA to 1.74 and set a Reds franchise record in the process as his competitor Darvish gave up 3 ER which won’t help his cause during a shortened season like this.

This wild bounce shook Tyler Naquin and took his ankles, benefitting the Royals in the 9th inning.

The Pittsburgh Pirates legend’s legacy is still alive to this day, 48 years after his death, as his name is attached to the MLB humanitarian award and his life gets celebrated on an annual basis for not only his accomplishments on the field, but the large impact he had outside the lines as well.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
