OF Aristides Aquino signed with the Cincinnati Reds as an international free agent in 2011, making his major league debut in 2018. Though it took him some time to get to the majors, he made an immediate impact for the Reds after being called up in August of 2019. Aquino set an MLB record on this day in sports history by being the fastest player to hit 10 home runs, doing so in just his 16th career game.

  • Aristides Aquino became the fastest player in MLB history to reach 10 HRs (16 GP) on August 16, 2019
  • Most HR by a rookie in a calendar month (14) in NL history, t-most in a calendar month by any player in Reds history
  • 1st player with 13 HRs through 1st 100 PA’s in the MLB among players to debut in Modern Era (since 1900)

ARISTIDES AQUINO BECAME THE FASTEST MLB PLAYER EVER TO HIT 10 CAREER HR

Aristides Aquino was making league history even before his monumental 10th home run. He blasted seven homers in his first 10 games, tying Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story for the most all time in that span. That stretch included a masterful 3-HR performance against the Cubs, which made him the second rookie after Bobby Estalella to ever achieve such a feat.

The record-setting night from “The Punisher” came in the 6th inning of a 13-4 loss to the Cardinals, in which he demolished a two-run shot off of long-time ace Adam Wainwright. The nickname is a testament to the pure power with which he hit the ball every time he came up to bat. Though his production has leveled off, Aquino certainly had one of the best starts to an MLB career ever.

  • 3 ABs, 3 HRs for Aquino
