PSO’s original Scouting Reports strive to be uniquely valuable in evaluating a player’s future outlook by focusing on the four main subjects that summarize a player’s likelihood of succeeding at the next level including: Natural Physical Tools, College Game Film, proven Production, and overall Risk that each individual player presents to a team drafting him. Grade: A-

Much like USC’s Alijah Vera-Tucker, Rashawn Slater is undersized (6’4″, 304 lbs) with relatively short arms (33″) for an OT. An outstanding athlete, however, Rashawn dominated his Pro Day, posting bench (33), 40-YD (4.88), and 3-cone (7.48) numbers that sit in the 97th, 96th, and 83rd percentiles among OTs, respectively.

Though much has been made of his length, Slater not only took every single snap of his career at either RT or LT, but was also one of the hallowed few to limit the impact of Ohio State EDGE Chase Young — 2020’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. It wasn’t just Young, either — Slater dominated the majority of his matchups as a junior, grading out as the nation’s 8th-best OT (90.0).

Compensating for his length with terrific footwork and agility, Slater is incredibly powerful as well. In addition to the functional strength to anchor down, he generates great power in his hands to control the point of attack. A relatively scheme-independent talent, Slater can slot into either OT spot right away for a team that doesn’t put much weight into measurables; the further inside he moves, however, the greater his potential ceiling.

Pro Comp: OT Jonah Williams (Cincinnati Bengals)

Projected Round: Top-15 Pick

Prime Destinations: DET, CAR, DAL, NYG, LAC, MIN, CIN

OVERALL Grade: A
