The week leading up to the NFL’s season premiere has been chaos with breaking news left and right. Now that the dust has settled, let’s review how every team is looking heading into the NFL’s 100th season.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: DL Jonathan Bullard, EDGE Cassius Marsh
Waived/Released: TE Ricky Seals-Jones, CB Brandon Williams, WR Chad Williams, DL Bruce Hector, OG Colby Gossett, RB/KR T.J. Logan, WR/PR Pharoh Kooper
Placed on Reserve: CB Patrick Peterson [SUSP], CB Robert Alford [IR], G/C Max Garcia [PUP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: DL Miles Brown, OT Brett Toth (PHI)
Cardinals had 1st priority on the waiver wire and they took full advantage by adding 6 players on Claim Day, with Bullard (from CHI) & Marsh (SF) being the most significant additions. They released some talented players as seen above, and had to place their best two corners on some sort of reserve list. Expect opposing teams to have a field day in the passing game against Arizona the first 6 weeks, at least.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: FB Keith Smith, K Matt Bryant
Waived/Released: TE Logan Paulsen, K Giorgio Tavecchio
Placed on Reserve: None
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Olamide Zaccheaus
The big story in the A was the kicker situation that seemed incomplete all offseason. The team moved on from 44-year-old Matt Bryant, and originally replaced him with Tavecchio. After a disappointing preseason, the Falcons changed course and brought Bryant back while releasing Tavecchio. Paulsen was projected to make the roster, but they ultimately went with 2018 UDFA Jaeden Graham instead.
Trades: 2020 4th Rd Pick from NE for G/T Jermaine Eluemunor & 2020 6th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: EDGE Shane Ray, WR Michael Floyd
Placed on Reserve: Tavon Young [IR], CB Iman Marshall [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: OG Patrick Mekari, LB Otaro Alaka
Baltimore flipped backup Guard Jermain Eluemunor to New England for a swap of Day 3 picks. Shane Ray waas rumored to be on the outside looking in during the preseason, and that became reality on cut day when BAL got rid of Ray and veteran WR Michael Floyd. Tavon Young is dealing with neck injuries, diminishing their depth at cornerback along with Iman Marshall.
Trades: 2020 5th & 6th Rd Pick from CLE for OG Wyatt Teller & 2021 7th Rd Pick; 2020 6th Rd Pick from NE for OG Russell Bodine
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: RB LeSean McCoy, EDGE Sam Acho, CB Captain Munnerlyn, QB Tyree Jackson, WR Ray-Ray McCloud III, CB Lafayette Pitts, WR David Sills
Placed on Reserve:TE Jason Croom [IR], LB Vosean Joseph [IR], EDGE Mike Love [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: T/G Ryan Bates
The Bills cut who many consider their best offensive player in RB LeSean McCoy, who then quickly signed with Kansas City. Buffalo dealt with a good problem relating to their depth on the Offensive Line. They turned that “problem” into a solution by swapping backups Teller and Bodine for 2020 & 2021 draft capital. They released plenty of notable names including veterans and highly sought after UDFA’s.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: S/CB Natrell Jamerson
Waived/Released: WR Torrey Smith, CB Kevon Seymour, WR Terry Godwin, EDGE Bryan Cox (P.Sq)
Placed on Reserve: K Graham Gano
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: LB Jordan Kunaszyk, K Joey Slye (From NYG)
Carolina acquired Torrey Smith before last season after he won the Super Bowl in Philadelphia, but are letting him go just a year later. Their WR core is pretty solid without Smith or 7th Rd Pick Terry Godwin. They were able to keep 2017 UDFA Bryan Cox on the Practice Squad, and named UDFA Joey Slye the kicker this year with Gano being placed on season-ending IR.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: DL Jonathan Bullard, QB Tyler Bray (P.Sq), EDGE Kylie Fitts, CB Stephen Denmark (P.Sq)
Placed on Reserve: OT T.J. Clemmings [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: None
Chicago’s biggest cut was DL Jonathan Bullard, the 2016 3rd Rd Pick who was claimed on waivers by Arizona. Fitts and Denmark were recent late-round picks that didn’t make the roster while Tyler Bray is a developmental QB kept on the Practice Squad. Chicago is going into Opening Day at full health, besides backup swing tackle T.J. Clemmings.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: WR Pharoh Cooper, RB Semaje Perine
Waived/Released: LB Malik Jefferson, WR Josh Malone
Placed on Reserve: OG Alex Redmond [SUSP], RB Rodney Anderson [IR], QB Jeff Driskel [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Damion Willis, QB Jacob Dolegala, OT O’Shea Dugas
Cincinnati is dealing with significant Offensive Line concerns after Jonah Williams tore his ACL, Clint Boling retired, Alex Redmond is suspended, and Cordy Glenn is dealing with injury issues. Cincy decided to keep 3 2019 UDFA’s on the 53-man roster this year. Return speciailist and backup RB Semaje Perine highlight their last-second additions to the roster.
Trades: OG Wyatt Teller & 2021 7th Rd Pick from BUF for 2020 5th & 6th Rd Picks; WR Taywan Taylor from TEN for 2020 7th Rd Pick; G/T Justin McCray & 2020 7th Rd Pick from GB for 2020 6th Rd Pick; 2022 6th Rd Pick from DET for QB David Blough and 2022 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: WR KhaDarel Hodge, LB Malik Jefferson, TE Ricky Seals-Jones
Waived/Released: P Britton Colquitt, DL Trevon Coley, LB Ray-Ray Armstrong, T/G Bryan Witzmann, WR Jaelen Strong, S Juston Burris, DT Carl Davis
Placed on Reserve: RB Kareem Hunt [SUSP], WR Antonio Callaway [SUSP], TE Rico Gathers [SUSP], CB Phillip Gaines [IR], G/T Drew Forbes [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: P Jamie Gillan
GM John Dorsey is never afraid to make a move. This week, he made plenty, including late-round swaps for bottom-tier players to fill the roster, notable claims/signs, and waiving a plethora of quality players. Troubled RB Kareem Hunt & WR Antonio Callaway will start the season on the Suspension list. The “Scottish Hammer” won the punting job over Britton Colquitt and is the only 2019 UDFA on the 53-man roster.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: QB Mike White, CB Michael Jackson (P.Sq), RB Alfred Morris
Placed on Reserve: WR Noah Brown [PUP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: OG Brandon Knight, LB Luke Gifford
The big news this week in Dallas was the extension of RB Ezekiel Elliott after a long holdout over the offseason. They also extended OG La’el Collins to lock up their core Offensive Linemen for the foreseeable future. They waived their 5th Rd Picks in each of the last two years, but brought Jackson back on the practice squad. Brandon Knight and Luke Gifford beat out some vets to make the roster as Dallas’ 2019 UDFA class.
Trades: CB Duke Dawson & 2020 7th Rd Pick from NE for 2020 6th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: C Corey Levin, CB Davontae Harris, QB Brandon Allen
Waived/Released: S Su’a Cravens, WR River Cracraft, TE Orson Charles, S Dymonte Thomas, WR Brendan Langley, QB Kevin Hogan
Placed on Reserve: QB Drew Lock [IR-DTR], TE Jake Butt [IR], RB Theo Riddick [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: EDGE Malik Reed
Denver got rid of the talented, but disappointing Su’a Cravens, along with other veterans that filled roles for them in the past. QB Drew Lock will start the season on the IR, as will injury-plagued TE Jake Butt, and newly acquired RB Theo Reddick. Malik Reed has not only made the roster, but the UDFA has surpassed 5th Rd pick Justin Hollins for the top backup spot behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb at EDGE.
Trades: QB David Slough & 2022 7th Rd Pick for 2022 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: RB J.D. McKissic
Waived/Released: CB Teez Tabor, RB Zach Zenner, QB Tom Savage, WR Andy Jones, S Charles Washington
Placed on Reserve: EDGE Austin Bryant
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: DL Kevin Strong, QB David Blough (From CLE), OG Beau Benzschawel, S C.J. Moore
Detroit made a flurry of moves to get their 53-man roster ready for the regular season. They have a whopping four undrafted free agents that made the roster, with 3 of them originally signing with them back in April. They shockingly released 2017 2nd Rd Pick Teez Tabor, despite going with 7 CBs on the roster. Also of note, they swapped four-year veteran RB Zach Zenner for notorious Seahawk J.D. McKissic.
Trades: 2020 7th Rd Pick from CLE for T/G Justin McCray & 2020 7th Rd Pick; LB B.J. Goodson & 2020 7th Rd Pick from NYG for 2020 7th Rd Pick; 2020 7th Rd Pick from TEN for EDGE Reggie Gilbert
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: WR J’Mon Moore, DL James Looney (P.Sq), CB/S Natrell Jamerson, LB Curtis Bolton
Placed on Reserve: WR Equanimeous St. Brown [IR], TE Jace Sternberger [IR-DTR],
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Darrius Shepherd
Green Bay made a few little trades that involved 2020 7th Rd picks. Other than that, the most noteworthy updates this week came in the WR department. 2018 4th Rd Pick J’Mon Moore was waived, while 2018 6th Rd pick Equanimeous St. Brown was placed on IR. So of the 3 wideouts Green Bay drafted last year, only Marquez Valdes-Scantling is an active member of the roster, and is expected to carry the load for last year’s rookie trifecta.
Trades: OT Laremy Tunsil, WR Kenny Stills, 2020 4th Rd Pick & 2021 6th Rd Pick from MIA for 2020 1st Rd Pick, 2021 1st & 2nd Rd Pick, CB Johnson Bademosi & OT Julien Davenport; RB Duke Johnson from CLE for 2020 3rd Rd Pick; 2020 3rd Rd Pick, EDGE Jacob Martin, & EDGE Barkevious Mingo from SEA for EDGE Jadeveon Clowney; RB Carlos Hyde from KC for G/T Martinas Rankin; CB Keion Crossen from NE for 2020 6th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: TE Logan Paulsen, CB Cornell Armstrong
Waived/Released: OT Matt Kalil, CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, P Bryan Anger
Placed on Reserve: RB Lamar Miller [IR], TE Kahale Warring [IR], TE Jordan Thomas [IR], QB Joe Webb [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: None
Houston stole the headlines this week as they finally dealt EDGE Jadeveon Clowney (although for a very modest return), and more surprisingly acquired OT Laremy Tunsil to give them the high-quality blindside protector they’ve been craving so heavily. Lamar Miller’s torn ACL also shook things up, and in smaller news, Matt Kalil, Boddy-Calhoun, and Bryan Anger were all released after originally being projected for starting roles at some point over the last six months.
Trades: 2020 6th Rd Pick from NYJ for CB Nate Hairston; 2020 6th Rd Pick from MIA for C/G Evan Boehm & 2020 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: QB Brian Hoyer, CB Ryan Lewis
Waived/Released: OT J’Marcus Webb, RB Charcandrick West, RB D’Onta Foreman
Placed on Reserve: QB Andrew Luck [RET], QB Chad Kelly [SUSP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: TE Hale Hentges
Regardless of the Antonio Brown rollercoaster, no headline this past month was more surprising than the retirement of QB Andrew Luck. Now that Jacoby Brissett got a short-term extension, he’ll have Brian Hoyer backing him up for the next few years. Indy also participated in this year’s trend of trading picks for low-end roster fillers.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: TE Seth DeValve, LB Austin Calitro, RB Tyler Ervin
Waived/Released: WR Terelle Pryor, OT Josh Wells, EDGE/DL Datone Jones,
Placed on Reserve: LB Jake Ryan [NFI], Alfred Blue [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: S Andrew Wingard
Jags are heading into their 1st year of Nick Foles taking snaps under center. While that move was franchise-altering, none of these transactions were that significant. Jacksonville removed former star WR Terelle Pryor from their roster, while placing would-be contributors Jake Ryan & Alfred Blue on reserve lists.
Trades: T/G Martinas Rankin from HOU for RB Carlos Hyde; 2021 7th Rd Pick from MIN for CB Mark Fields
Claimed/Signed: RB LeSean McCoy
Waived/Released: DL Justin Hamilton, EDGE Jeremiah Attaochu
Placed on Reserve: EDGE Breeland Speaks [IR], CB Morris Claiborne [SUSP], WR De’Anthony Thomas [SUSP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: None
The Chiefs made the last-minute decision to add a premier RB to the fold once LeSean McCoy became available out of Buffalo. They traded Hyde to the Texans just a day earlier. Last year’s 2nd Rd Pick Breeland Speaks will miss 2019 on the IR while Morris Claiborne & De’Anthony Thomas will presumably be contributors once they’re off the suspension list.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: QB Cardale Jones, DL T.Y. McGill
Placed on Reserve: Derwin James [IR], Melvin Gordon [DNR], Russell Okung [NFI]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: EDGE Chris Peace, S Roderic Teamer
Unlike Ezekiel Elliott’s holdout, the Melvin Gordon saga hasn’t had a happy ending yet, and the disgruntled RB will reportedly holdout through the season. It’s yet to be known when the 2x Pro bowler will make his return. Derwin James and Russell Okung are both on inactive lists to start the season as well, but are eligible to return in 6-8 weeks.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: DL John Franklin-Myers, RB John Kelly (P.Sq)
Placed on Reserve: LB Micah Kiser [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Nsimba Webster, EDGE Natrez Patrick, LB Troy Reeder
The Rams surprisingly cut Franklin-Myers who was positioned to start after performing well in his 300 rookie snaps last season. 2018 6th Rd Pick Sabastian Joseph is now scheduled to start on the DL, after not playing a single snap in 2018. LA had three UDFA’s make the roster, but they’d prefer none of them play a meaningful snap, unless someone gets injured. LAR only went with 3 RBs despite Gurley’s durability concerns, waiving John Kelly, but retained him on the practice squad to potentially contribute in future seasons.
Trades: 2020 1st Rd Pick, 2021 1st & 2nd Rd Pick, CB Johnson Bademosi & OT Julien Davenport from HOU for OT Laremy Tunsil, WR Kenny Stills, 2020 4th Rd Pick & 2021 6th Rd Pick; C/G Evan Boehm & 2020 7th Rd Pick from IND for 2020 6th Rd Pick; OG Danny Isidora from MIN for 2020 7th Rd Pick; LB Vince Biegel from NO for LB Kiko Alonso
Claimed/Signed: EDGE Avery Moss, DL John Jenkins, LB Deon Lacey, CB Ken Webster
Waived/Released: S T.J. McDonald, OT Jordan Mills, DL Akeem Spence, TE Dwayne Allen, EDGE Nate Orchard, DL Vincent Taylor, EDGE Tank Carradine, WR Brice Butler, TE Clive Walford
Placed on Reserve: DL Robert Nkemdiche [PUP], CB Cordrea Tankersley [PUP], LB Mike Hull [PUP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: EDGE Jonathan Ledbetter, OG Deion Calhoun, WR Preston Williams, RB Patrick Laird, LB Sam Eguavoen
No team made as many moves as the Dolphins in the week preparing for the season. The Laremy Tunsil trade deservedly got many of the headlines in South Beach after the 2016 1st Rd Pick was sent to Houston for a package that included two 1st Rd Picks. They also cut starting S T.J. McDonald along with other starting-caliber players. With a youth movement fully in place in Miami, they kept five UDFA’s on the roster, the most in the NFL.
Trades: CB Mark Fields from KC for 2021 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: WR Josh Doctson, P Britton Colquitt
Waived/Released: P Matt Wile WR Brandon Zylstra, C Brett Jones, LB Cameron Smith (P.Sq), LB Devante Downs (P.Sq)
Placed on Reserve: TE David Morgan [PUP], EDGE Ade Aruna [IR], EDGE Tashawn Bower [NFI]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: TE Brandon Dillon
Minnesota is looking for a rebound season in 2019, and they’ll be doing it with mostly the same roster intact from the 2018 NFC Championship game. They had to place backup TE David Morgan on the PUP, and cut backup WR Brandon Zylstra and backup C Brett Jones. They also replaced 1st Rd disappointment Josh Doctson evaded Washington D.C. and is now in Minneapolis. Brandon Dillon is the sole UDFA on the roster, but might be replaced once Morgan comes off the PUP.
Trades: 2020 4th Rd Pick to BAL for G/T Jermaine Eluemunor & 2020 6th Rd Pick; OG Russell Bodine from BUF for 2020 6th Rd Pick; OT Korey Cunningham from ARZ for 2020 6th Rd Pick; 2020 6th Rd Pick from DEN for CB Duke Dawson & 2020 7th Rd Pick; 2020 6th Rd Pick from HOU for CB Keion Crossen
Claimed/Signed: WR Antonio Brown
Waived/Released: DL Mike Pennel, C Russel Bodine, QB Brian Hoyer, WR Dontrell Inman, P Ryan Allen, TE Eric Saubert, WR Braxton Berrios, LB Christian Sam, S Ken Webster
Placed on Reserve: C David Andrews [IR], WR N’Keal Harry [IR], OT Yodny Cajuste [NFI], WR Cameron Meredith [PUP], OG Hjalte Froholdt [IR], EDGE Derek Rivers [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Jakobi Meyers, WR Gunner Olszewski
New England shocked the NFL world (while also shocking nobody) by signing WR Antonio Brown after a tumultuous 6 months in Oakland that didn’t include playing a single snap. The 4x All-Pro will now suit up in a receiving core that includes himself, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, and 1st Rd Pick N’Keal Harry, who will miss the 1st eight weeks on the IR. New England has a couple UDFA WR’s that made the roster for the time being, but with Demaryious Thomas, AB, and Josh Gordon now all in the fold, it remains to be seen how long that will last.
Trades: LB Kiko Alonso from MIA for LB Vince Biegel
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: OT Marshall Newhouse, WR Simmie Cobbs, KR Marcus Sherels
Placed on Reserve: DL David Onyemata [SUSP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Deonte Harris, OT Ethan Greenidge, DL Shy Tuttle
With a lack of confidence in the Linebacker corps, New Orleans made a deadline deal for Kiko Alonso and his $4M cap hit in exchange for LB Vince Biegel’s $645K. David Onyemata will play a big role in New Orleans defense, but has to start the 1st week of the season on the suspension list. Newhouse was the most noteworthy release, and Sherels would’ve been a KR candidate had he made the roster.
Trades: 2020 7th Rd Pick [via BAL] from GB for LB B.J. Goodson & 2020 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: None significant
Waived/Released: DL John Jenkins, EDGE Avery Moss, OT Brian Mihalik
Placed on Reserve: CB Sam Beal [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: None
As the Giants enter a transition year that will likely mark the final season Eli Manning suits up in a Giants uniform, there weren’t too many notable moves coming from NY during the 53-man roster crunch. The team signed Jenkins to a 1-year deal in May, but only had $15K in dead cap. Sam Beal was their supplemental pick last year, and made the initial 53-man roster, but then was placed on IR, so he can be eligible to return midseason.
Trades: CB Nate Hairston from IND for 2020 6th Rd Pick; 2021 7th Rd Pick from SEA for CB Parry Nickerson
Claimed/Signed: K Kaare Vedvik, WR Braxton Berrios, EDGE John Franklin Meyers, S Matthias Farley, S Bennett Jackson
Waived/Released: RB Elijah McGuire, TE Eric Tomlinson, QB Davis Webb, CB Marcus Cooper, WR Deonte Thompson, WR Deontay Burnett, LB Stephone Anthony, WR Charone Peake, QB Luke Falk
Placed on Reserve: TE Chris Herndon [SUSP], LB Brandon Copeland [SUSP], OT Brent Qvale [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: DL Kyle Phillips
While the Jets seem to always be surrounded by controversy, no roster moves this week appeared to catch too many headlines. They added some quality players through trade and waivers/signings after the initial 53-man roster crunch. Therefore, they had to cut some notable players as well, but none of the players above were in a position to play much this season anyways. Chris Herndon’s 4-game suspension hurts the most as the 2nd-year TE is poised to take a jump alongside Sam Darnold this year upon his return.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: QB DeShone Kizer
Waived/Released: WR Antonio Brown, LB Brandon Marshall, TE Luke Wilson, RB Doug Martin, S Jordan Richards, FB Keith Smith, DL Ethan Westbrooks, DL Eddie Vanderdoes, WR Keelan Doss, LB Jason Cabinda
Placed on Reserve: OG Richie Incognito [SUSP], CB Nevin Lawson [SUSP], DL Justin Ellis [IR], CB Isaiah Johnson [IR], QB Nathan Peterman [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: P A.J. Cole, FB Alec Ingold, CB Keisean Nixon
The Antonio Brown saga dominated headlines over the past week, that ultimately ended in his release, as it became clear he wanted out of Oakland. The Raiders had plenty of depth on their 90-man roster, making it difficult to get it to 53 players, as seen on Hard Knocks. Keelan Doss would’ve made the roster had OAK knew AB wouldn’t be a part of their roster this season. He’s now the highest paid practice squad player in the NFL in Jackonsville.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: CB Orlando Scandrick, DL Treyvon Hester, OL Stefen Wisniewski, RB Wendell Smallwood, RB Josh Adams, QB Clayton Thorson, QB Cody Kessler, EDGE Eli Harold
Placed on Reserve: CB Jalen Mills [PUP], WR Charles Johnson [IR], TE Richard Rodgers [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: LB T.J. Edwards, G/C Nate Herbig
The Eagles still have most of the 2017 Super Bowl Championship team still together, with a few changes, mainly just in the weapons, Linebacker, and Cornerback departments. They made plenty of notable cuts as seen above, including both veterans and young players. They’ll have to play the 1st 6 games without CB Jalen Mills who was placed on the PUP.
Trades: 2021 6th Rd Pick from TB for OT Jerald Hawkins & 2021 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: WR Eli Rogers
Placed on Reserve: LB Ryan Shazier [PUP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: OG/OT Fred Johnson
Ryan Shazier continues to be a part of Pittsburgh’s roster (on the PUP), despite probably never playing a snap of football again. Pittsburgh didn’t make many other notable moves, but they did move on from Eli Rogers who spent a few years as their starting slot WR, and now relies on James Washington to be the next in line. Fred Johnson managed to make the team as the only UDFA after Tuzar Skipper was cut last minute for Johnny Holton’s promotion form the Practice Squad.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: OG Joshua Garnett, S Adrian Colbert
Placed on Reserve: RB Jerick McKinnon [IR], TE Garrett Celek [PUP], EDGE Kentavius Street [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: LB Azeez Al-Shaair
San Francisco released 2016 1st Rd Pick OG Joshua Garnett after he failed to make a positive impression during his time in SF, and officially earning the ‘bust’ label. Jerick McKinnon continued his disastrous run with the 49ers and will officially miss a second consecutive season after signing the 4y/$30M contract a year ago that many considered a vast overpay, and looks even worse now. It’s highly possible the 49ers cut him next year to save $4.8M with him not playing a single snap for the Red & Gold.
Trades: EDGE Jadeveon Clowney from HOU for 2020 3rd Rd Pick, EDGE Barkevious Mingo, & EDGE Jacob Martin CB Parry Nickerson from NYJ for 2021 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: None
Waived/Released: CB Jamar Taylor, DL Earl Mitchell, EDGE Cassius Marsh, QB Paxton Lynch
Placed on Reserve: DL Jarran Reed [SUSP], TE Ed Dickson [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: DL Bryan Mone
Seattle’s deadline moves were capped off with the acquisition of the best EDGE rusher on the market. Clowney adds an element to Seattle’s defense they thought they lost when they traded Frank Clark earlier in the offseason. His arrival meant they were forced to get rid of starting-caliber players like Jamar Taylor and Earl Mitchell. For the full breakdown of Jadeveon Clowney’s arrival, click here.
Trades: OT Jerald Hawkins & 2021 7th Rd Pick from PIT for 2021 6th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: RB T.J. Logan
Waived/Released: DL Terry Beckner (P.Sq)
Placed on Reserve: EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul [NFI], CB Ryan Smith [SUSP]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: OG Zack Bailey
The most significant move Tampa Bay made this week was a move expected for a long time with the placement of Jason Pierre-Paul on the NFI. Starting CB Ryan Smith will also miss four games with a suspension. They made a deadline deal for swing tackle Jerald Hawkins and added T.J. Logan to an unimpressive RB room. Their 7th Rd Pick Terry Beckner was the only rookie draft pick to not make the team, but he’ll be a part of their taxi squad.
Trades: 2020 7th Rd Pick from CLE for WR Taywan Taylor; OLB Reggie Gilbert from GB for 2020 7th Rd Pick
Claimed/Signed: K Cairo Santos, CB Chris Milton
Waived/Released: CB Kenneth Durden, C/G Corey Levin
Placed on Reserve: OT Taylor Lewan [SUSP], DL Jeffery Simmons [NFI], K Ryan Succup [IR]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: DL Isaiah Mack
Tennessee isn’t viewed by many as a team primed to compete this year, and with 1st Rd Pick DL Jeffery Simmons starting the season on the NFI, it will make things more difficult, as he recovers from a torn ACL. They swapped former Chiefs kickers Ryan Succop for Cairo Santos after Succop needed to be placed on the IR. They surprisingly dealt starting slot WR Taywan Taylor for only a 7th Rd Pick as it appeared he would somehow not make the roster.
Trades: None
Claimed/Signed: RB Wendell Smallwood, DL Treyvon Hester
Waived/Released: CB Adonis Alexander (P.Sq), RB Samaje Perine, WR Robert Davis
Placed on Reserve: OT Trent Williams [DNR], QB Alex Smith [PUP], CB Danny Johnson [PUP], RB Bryce Love [NFI]
2019 UDFA’s on Roster: WR Steven Sims
The big story in DC is OT Trent Williams who hasn’t reported to the team all offseason after being misdiagnosed with an injury. He wants out of the nation’s capital, but the team hasn’t granted his release or traded him and he’ll be placed on the Did Not Report list until further notice. Not many other surprises on their 53-man roster, but kept 4th Rd Pick Bryce Love for future rosters by placing him on the NFI, so he doesn’t take up a 53-man spot.
