‘The Best in MLB’ is a daily PSO original series showcasing the best highlights, facts, and stories going on in the land of Major League Baseball everyday.

Here is the best from July 20, 2019:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stepped up to the plate in the 5th inning down 4 runs. With one swing of the bat, ‘Young Pop’ neutralized Detroit’s lead and ended up leading the Blue Jays to victory.

Down to their final out, Oakland’s Khris Davis lined a ball to the right side that turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead in the 9th.

In the 11th inning, the Sox-Rays game was a pitching duel as shown by the 1-1 score, that was 1-0 until the 9th (more on that below). Every run, every hit, every pitch mattered. Knowing that, Moncada had the green light to round 3 bases, even on a lousy infield single.

Before Moncada’s electric base-running in extra innings, it didn’t look like they would even get to that point. With 2 outs in the top of the 9th, the Sox were down 1-0, but James McCann didn’t want to go home empty handed.

Javy’s Baez’s no-look tags may as well be patented at this point. Unlike those in the past, this one came at a key situation in the game: 9th inning, up 1, with the tying run attempting to get into scoring position.

Another big knock from yesterday’s games. This time from Mike “MOOSE” Moustakas in the 8th inning, facing a 3-2 deficit with 2 men on base. A major opportunity for some damage that Mike wasn’t going to let pass.

Despite Clayton Kershaw’s phenomenal performance, the Dodgers’ bullpen blew a 6-run lead. Now tied 6-6 in the 8th, Matt Beaty made sure Miami wouldn’t beat LA.
