The Cleveland Cavaliers upset the Philadelphia 76ers behind the contributions of some young and talented players. Despite Joel Embiid’s huge game, the 76ers weren’t able to get it done at home against one of the East’s bottom teams. In the midst of an MVP-caliber season, Embiid has proven to be the most unstoppable big man in the league with his wide array of skills rarely seen in players of his size. Also, RJ Hampton threw down a monster jam vs. the Thunder and Russell Westbrook continues to be a triple-double machine in the nation’s capital.

Here is the best of the day from February 27, 2021:

Cavs upset 76ers after OT in Philly despite Embiid’s monster performance

The Cleveland Cavaliers pulled off the major upset of the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night with their 112-109 overtime victory. Cleveland came in as 11-point underdogs, but wound up recording the impressive road win despite Joel Embiid‘s huge performance. Embiid finished the game with 42 points and 13 rebounds, his 16th 20-point/10-rebound effort of the season. The loss dropped the 76ers to 14-3 at home and 22-12 on the season, both still tops among Eastern Conference teams.

The Cavaliers have now won three in a row following their recent 10-game skid. They were led by their young backcourt duo of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland. Sexton finished with 28 points while Garland recorded 25 points and nine assists as Cleveland (13-21) earned its first road win since January 7th and just its fourth overall this season.

JOEL EMBIID IS THE MOST UNSTOPPABLE BIG MAN IN THE NBA

The Philadelphia 76ers entered their Saturday night contest against Cleveland sporting the best total record and home record in the Eastern Conference. Despite another monster performance from Joel Embiid (42 PTS, 13 REB, 6 AST), the Sixers came up short to the Cavs in OT thanks to big games from Collin Sexton and Darius Garland

While the East’s No.1 team wasn’t able to walk away with the win, they were able to go to sleep knowing they have the most unstoppable big man in the game. Starting at Center in the 2021 All-Star Game, Joel Embiid is the most difficult 7-footer to defend, possibly ever. While he’s not as dominant around the rim as Shaquille O’Neal or as lethal from the 3-point arc as Dirk Nowitzki, Embiid’s versatility is unmatched for anyone his size.

He can punish opponents in the restricted area, give them the Dream Shake in the post, step-back for mid-range buckets, and cash 3’s from outside. Embiid can truly do it all and his offensive prowess would make one think he’s rather one-dimensional, but “The Process” might be even better on the defensive end. Even though Cleveland was able to score in his presence late on Saturday, the former top-3 pick has established a reputation as one of the best rim protectors in the NBA.

Nikola Jokic has deservedly received MVP consideration, but if the season ended today, there’s no doubt it should go to Joel Embiid. He’s leading a No.1 seeded team as the clear-cut best player and can contribute in basically every facet of the game with elite production. His power, shiftiness, and arsenal of skills were on full display vs. the Cavs, and it showed the world why he’s the most unstoppable Big Man in the entire Association.
