The ‘Best of the Day’ is a daily PSO original series showcasing the most significant stories, highlights, and facts going on in the land of the NFL, NBA, & MLB every day. Get a recap on EVERYTHING that happened on 6/25 here

Fernando Tatis Jr. had a monster 3-HR game, leading the Padres to an 11-5 victory over the Diamondbacks. The Bucks had a dominant Game 2 performance behind Giannis Antetokounmpo to tie the series against the Hawks. Eugenio Suarez made an incredible throw from the hot corner, Falcons CB AJ Terrell is a breakout candidate for this season and June 25th marked the 42nd anniversary of the Lakers drafting Magic Johnson 1st overall.

Here is the best of the day from June 25, 2021:

Fernando Tatis Jr. recorded his 1st career 3-HR game amidst a historic season

San Diego Padres SS Fernando Tais Jr., the National League HR leader, padded his lead with a 3-HR day against the struggling D-backs. He also tied Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at 25 HR for the MLB lead in 2021. In his first three at-bats against the D-backs, Tatis hit three HR, one 2-run bomb, and two solo shots for a total of four RBI’s.

During his fourth AB of the evening, he added another hit with a single in the 7th inning and he ended up scoring another run. He ended up hitting 4-5 with 4 RBI and 4 Runs on the way to an 11-5 victory. The Padres handed the Diamondbacks their 24th straight road loss to extend the MLB record while San Diego compiled their eighth straight victory.

MILWAUKEE’S MORE BALANCED OFFENSE GIVES THEM THE EDGE OVER ATLANTA

After a disappointing loss in Game 1, Milwaukee bounced back with a dominant performance in Game 2, crushing Atlanta by 34 points. Trae Young struggled, giving up nine turnovers and only recording 15 points. Meanwhile, the Bucks had four players in double figures, which included Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez. Milwaukee was dominant from the tip, and they made sure they weren’t going to lose the first two games of the series at home.

After a playoff career-high night in Game 1, the Bucks did a better job in Game 2 of slowing down Trae Young. Ice Trae had nine turnovers on Saturday night, and couldn’t really get going offensively. Atlanta’s offense is dependent on Young, while Milwaukee has multiple players who could go off on any given night, and they showed that in Game 2.

The Bucks had four players in double figures, and this balance is something Atlanta clearly lacks. Since Milwaukee has multiple players that can go and get a bucket, while the Hawks rely on one guy, it gives them an edge in the series as their balanced attack offensively is more threatening. Even if Giannis or Middleton or Jrue has a bad game, the other players around them are prepared to step up while if Young’s getting locked up, not many Hawks can pick up the slack.
