1993: New York Knicks C Patrick Ewing passed Walt Frazier with 14,618 points to become the team’s all-time leading scorer

1973: Buffalo Bills RB OJ Simpson broke Jim Brown’s single-season rushing record (1,863) with a 200-yard performance against the Jets, also becoming the first to rush for over 2,000 yards (2,003)

1979: 2x Super Bowl-winning QB Roger Staubach played (started) the final game of his HOF career, all with the Dallas Cowboys

1972: With a win over the Baltimore Colts, the Miami Dolphins became the 1st team in NFL history to finish the regular season undefeated (14-0)

1962: New York Giants QB Y.A. Tittle threw 6 TDs in a victory over the Dallas Cowboys to bring his season total to 33, breaking the single-season record

1961: Philadelphia Warriors C Wilt Chamberlain began a record streak of 7 consecutive 50-point games

1945: Cleveland Rams defeated the Washington Redskins in the NFL Championship game — their last before moving to Los Angeles

1923: Led by HOF player-coach Guy Chamberlin, the Canton Bulldogs completed their 2nd consecutive undefeated season (21-0-3) to become the NFL’s 1st repeat champions; the team would then be moved to Cleveland and merged with the defunct “Indians”

1922: The Mutual Association of Eastern Colored Baseball Clubs (commonly referred to as the Eastern Colored League) officially formed, which gave way to the more successful Negro Leagues
