1965: St. Louis Cardinals SP Bob Gibson passed Dizzy Dean for the most career Ks (1,095) in franchise history en route to his 4th consecutive season of 200+ Ks. Gibson played his entire 17-year career for the Cardinals and recorded 3,117 Ks which still stands as the franchise record today

1941: New York Yankees OF Joe DiMaggio extended his record hitting streak to an unprecedented 56 games, which still stands today as the all-time record

1920: New York Yankees OF Babe Ruth hit his 30th HR of the season, breaking his own record set in the previous season en route to 54 HR in 1920 which he surpassed the next year with 59 and then again in 1927 with 60. Roger Maris then set the single-season HR record with 61 in a 162-game season (instead of 154) during 1961

1909: Detroit Tigers SP Ed Summers pitched all 18 innings of a 0-0 tie with the Washington Senators, the longest scoreless game in American League history
