Shohei Ohtani broke his own record of the hardest-hit HR in Angels history with a 118.0 MPH bomb during LAA’s loss against Seattle. Rookie sensation Jack Suwinki followed up a HR by making a spectacular catch, Tigers youngster Riley Greene made an airborne sprawling snag, while Robinson Chrinos made an unorthodox play at Catcher. Texas and Tampa Bay also each enjoyed walk-off wins.

1999: San Antonio Spurs defeated the Knicks in NBA Finals Game 5 behind Finals MVP Tim Duncan’s 27.4 PPG and 14 RPG to become the very 1st former ABA franchise to win an NBA Championship

1998: Chicago Cubs OF Sammy Sosa broke the MLB record for the most HR hit by a player over a single month with his 19th bomb in the month of June. He extended his record to 20 on June 30th that still stands today

1997: Wake Forest C Tim Duncan, originally from the US Virgin Islands, was selected 1st overall by San Antonio in the NBA Draft. PG Chauncey Billups (3rd – BOS) and SG Tracy McGrady (9th – TOR) were other notable top-10 picks

1989: New York Mets’ defense became the 2nd team to not record a single assist in a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Mets pitchers retired Phillies batters on 13 K, 12 fly outs, & 2 ground balls to 1B

1988: The “Iron Man” Baltimore Orioles SS Cal Ripken Jr. played in his 1,000th consecutive game en route to a MLB-record 2,632 straight games played

1979: Los Angeles Lakers selected PG Magic Johnson 1st overall, who would become the 1st and only #1 pick to win a NBA Championship in his rookie season
