2001: San Francisco Giants OF Barry Bonds broke Mark McGwire’s all-time single-season MLB record with his 71st and 72nd home runs of the 2001 season. Bonds finished with 73 HR which still stands as the MLB season record

2001: Beating the Florida Marlins 20-3 to clinch the NL East title, the Atlanta Braves became the 1st team in professional sports history to win their division in 10 consecutive seasons. They extended their record streak to 14 seasons which still stands today

2001: With their 115th win of the season, the Seattle Mariners broke the AL single-season wins record set by the 1998 Yankees. They would finish 116-46 which tied the 1906 Cubs for the most Wins (116) and still stands as the American League record

1950: To assign players from the defunct Chicago Stags franchise, the NBA had teams randomly drew lots from a hat. The Boston Celtics lucked into eventual 6x NBA Champion PG Bob Cousy

1922: Game 2 of the World Series between the New York Giants and New York Yankees ended in a controversial 2-2 tie after 10 innings. The NY Giants would win the series 4-0-1
