The San Diego Padres’ bullpen demonstrated their clutch gene as they escaped multiple jams to win 5-3 and even their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The NBA had some amazing highlights in the preseason, as Moussa Diabate threw down a monster poster dunk and Brooklyn’s Royce O’Neal beat the first half buzzer with a half-court shot.

2003: Indianapolis Colts WR Marvin Harrison passed Raymond Berry for the most REC YDS (9,275) in Colts franchise history en route to 1,200+ REC YDS for the 5th consecutive season. Harrison played his entire career for the Colts and recorded 14,580 REC YDS which still stands as the franchise record today

1989: Dallas Cowboys traded RB Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings for a multitude of players & draft picks that eventually turned into 18 players (including Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson) in 1 of the most infamous trades in NFL history

1989: NBA officially joined in partnership with USA Basketball, the sport’s national governing body which would lead to professional NBA players participating in the 1992 Summer Olympics for the 1st time

1986: Just 1 single pitch away from a World Series berth, the California Angels allowed the Boston Red Sox to send Game 5 into extra innings and eventually win it in the 11th where Boston went on to win the series after mounting a 3-1 series comeback

1982: Milwaukee Brewers 3B Paul Molitor set a World Series record with 5 Hits against the St. Louis Cardinals. Albert Pujols tied the record in 2011 but nobody has ever surpassed it

1979: Boston Celtics F Larry Bird and Los Angeles Lakers PG Magic Johnson both made their NBA debuts in separate Wins as Celtics SG Chris Ford hit the 1st 3PM in NBA history. Bird won ROY while Magic won FMVP in 1979 as they would combine for 6 of the next 7 NBA MVP’s (3 each)

1967: St. Louis Cardinals OF Lou Brock recorded the most Stolen Bases (7) during a single World Series in MLB history as STL defeated the Boston Red Sox in Game 7

1929: Trailing the Chicago Cubs 8-0, the Philadelphia Athletics scored 10 Runs in the 7th inning to win Game 4 and complete the greatest single-inning comeback in World Series history en route to winning the series in 5 games
