Todd Gurley was selected 10th overall by the Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Georgia before becoming one of the best NFL RB before injuries. Gurley had a spectacular rookie year with 10 touchdowns and 1,294 yards from scrimmage en route to a spot in the Pro Bowl and the offensive rookie of the year award. After a down year in 2016, Gurley bounced back with 13 rushing touchdowns, 19 total touchdowns, and 2,093 scrimmage yards, which led the league in all three categories.

The next season he led the NFL in both rushing and total touchdowns again with 17 RUSH TD and 21 total TDs. At the end of his 2018 season, where he made his third Pro Bowl roster and his second All-Pro team, a knee injury kept him out of the last two games of the season. He was never the same after that, dropping off in the 2019 season and even more in 2020. He was without a doubt one of the best running backs in the league before injuries derailed his career. He officially retired in 2022 after just six NFL seasons (5 w/ LAR, 5 w/ ATL).

TODD GURLEY WAS THE BEST NFL RB BEFORE INJURIES

In his first four seasons before a knee injury, Todd Gurley made three Pro Bowls and two All-Pros. He led the Rams to the Playoffs in those final two years, including a trip to the Super Bowl in 2018. He also won OPOY in 2017 after he rebounded from his lackluster 2016 season. Between the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Gurley scored 40 touchdowns and racked up 3,924 yards from scrimmage. During that two-year span, no other player matched Todd Gurley’s production or overall impact.
