1B Todd Helton was drafted with the eighth overall pick in the 1995 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies. He made his major league debut in 1997 and played his entire 17-year career in Colorado, breaking franchise records in almost every major hitting category by a wide margin. Though he did not necessarily play for a yearly championship contender, Helton has firmly established himself as the greatest Rockies player ever.

TODD HELTON WAS THE GREATEST COLORADO ROCKIES PLAYER OF ALL TIME

Todd Helton was always a naturally gifted athlete, receiving a scholarship to play both football and baseball at the University of Tennessee. He didn’t receive much playing time on the football field due to competition and injuries, but this fortunately opened up the opportunity for him to pursue professional baseball, which worked out incredibly well for him to say the least.

The former dual-sport athlete racked up numerous accolades during his 17 years with the freshly established Colorado Rockies, earning five All-Star selections as well as winning four Silver Slugger awards and three Gold Gloves at first base. He also owns countless franchise records that likely won’t be broken for quite some time. With such a high margin of superiority in nearly every statistical category, Helton has cemented his status as the greatest player to ever play for the Rockies.
