Giancarlo Stanton wasn’t able to stay healthy during his second year in NY last year but re-introduced his power potential quickly to the MLB audience in the 1st inning off one of the most accomplished pitchers of this generation.

The Yankees struck first, but just like they did a historic amount in 2019, the Nats picked up where they left off by responding to a deficit.

Starting in place of DJ LeMahieu, Tyler Wade showed off his speed as he hustled from first to home on a simple base knock to the left fielder.

Gerrit Cole picked up right where he left off from the 2019 season by dominating the entire defending champs lineup outside of 1 pitch in the 1st inning to Adam Eaton.

Rain caused the Yankees-Nationals Opening Day to get called in the 6th inning with Cole getting the win in his Yankees debut.

Mookie is an all-around player who showcased his speed by scoring on this play despite the infield shifting inward to try to prevent this from happening after he recorded his first hit wearing Dodger blue.

With Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts, and Justin Turner in the lineup, few expected Kike Hernandez to be the player of the day, but that’s exactly what happened as the versatile defender showed what he could do at the plate with 4 hits and 5 RBI’s.
