Taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Darius Garland was expected to become the next face of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise, and this is exactly what he ended up doing by becoming one of the best Point Guards in the entire league. The son of former NBA player Winston Garland, Darius more than followed in his father’s footsteps and became an All-Star in just his third season, while also becoming one of the leaders of a Cavs team that desperately needed an influx of talent and intangibles.

Born in Indiana, Garland was heavily recruited during his high school playing days in Tennessee, and he eventually committed to Vanderbilt. Darius became the first player born in the 21st century to ever make his NBA debut, and quickly blossomed into the great player that the Cavs hoped he would become thanks to his well-rounded skillset and great playmaking ability.
