After Baker Mayfield was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Carolina Panthers, there’s no better time to look at all of the historic accomplishments and greatest records the young QB already owns.

The Cleveland Browns placed a lot of faith in Quarterback Baker Mayfield when they selected him with the first overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. They believed that he could become the franchise’s future signal-caller and bring them out of their extended period of QB turmoil. Mayfield immediately showed plenty of promise and proved to the Browns that he could become the team’s new leader and franchise Quarterback. He broke numerous Cleveland rookie records and led the team to their first Playoff win in over 25 years.

Born and raised in Texas, Baker initially attended Texas Tech for one year before transferring to Oklahoma, playing three incredible seasons there before the draft. He was spectacular in college, winning the Heisman trophy in 2017 and capturing the attention of football fans everywhere with his animated personality. Browns fans immediately came to love their new signal-caller, who went on to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2020 Playoffs and became by far the best QB the team had fielded since moving back to Ohio in 1999.

However, despite the great start to Mayfield’s career, unrest started to develop between the front office and their signal-caller, as Baker had a down year in 2021 due to injuries while a contract decision was looming. The team grew to believe that Mayfield was not the one who could lead them to a championship, so they acquired new superstar QB Deshaun Watson in a trade before shipping Baker off to the Carolina Panthers. They traded #6 for a 2024 conditional fifth-round draft pick and agreed to pay most of the QB’s contract for the 2022 season.
