As NFL fans celebrate O.J. Simpson on his 75th birthday, check out some of the best records to know about the talented, yet controversial Running Back.

Even as one of the most controversial players in NFL history, Hall of Fame RB O.J. Simpson is still one of the best and most talented rushers the league has ever seen. Taken first overall in the 1969 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills wanted to see the Heisman winner become the top Running Back in the league. Not only did he do that, but O.J. shattered many important league records, such as being one of the few RBs to ever win MVP, and eventually became the first Heisman winner to make it in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Born and raised in California, “Juice” kept his talents local when he attended USC, playing two incredible seasons before getting drafted. O.J.’s superb skills allowed him to dominate on the gridiron and set numerous impressive records, including becoming the first player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season, doing this in only 14 games. However, while O.J. is certainly remembered for his dominant play, he is more well known for his many off the field issues and controversies.

In 1994, Simpson was tried for the double murder of his ex-wife and her friend. The trial was broadcast throughout the entire nation and dubbed “Trial of the Century”. After this lengthy process, Simpson was ultimately acquitted, although many to this day believe that he was guilty. He was also in legal trouble more recently, serving seven years in prison for an armed robbery of a Las Vegas hotel. Although #32 is an extremely controversial figure, he was undeniably one of the most talented RBs in NFL history with a five-year peak up there with anyone.
