Hall of Fame sharpshooter Reggie Miller celebrated his 57th birthday on August 24th, 2022 so it’s a great time to look at the 5 greatest NBA shooters of all time with him highlighting the list.
When determining the most highlight-worthy plays in basketball, big-time shots has quickly vaulted up to the top spot. Although fast break dunks and alley-oops are fun to watch, there’s just something about watching players shoot from 30+ feet that gets fans’ adrenaline pumping. Not only is the shot worth more points than a standard shot, but shooting threes has become a skill that can shift the trajectory of a game.
One moment a team could be up by eight and feel like they have a comfortable lead. But if the opposing team gets hot from three and hits four or five in a row, all of a sudden that eight-point lead becomes a seven-point deficit just like that. The art of three-point shooting has become so much of a high commodity in the NBA that even Centers are being asked to shoot from beyond the arc if they want more playing time.
