As a kid who grew up in Southern California and became a basketball star on his way to the prestigious UCLA program, Kevin Love always knew what it took to shine on the court with some flair along the way. After starring in college alongside fellow NBA legend Russell Westbrook in 2008, Love was taken 5th overall by Memphis before being traded to Minnesota. That top-5 draft status brought lofty expectations, but the So. Cal product’s combination of size, strength, and skill made him a perfect fit in the evolving modern NBA. 

K-Love made an instant impact for Minnesota during his rookie year, averaging 11 points and 9 rebounds while showcasing serious double-double potential. During his next five seasons with the T-wolves, he would post prolific scoring numbers and become one of the NBA’s best rebounders. However, Minnesota’s failure to surround him with complementary talent kept Kevin from appearing in the playoffs until 2015 after he was ultimately traded to Cleveland to form a new Big 3 alongside Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. 

Kevin Love spent four years playing with King James, notching as many finals appearances and helping win one of the most legendary titles ever in Cleveland’s 2016 3-1 comeback vs. the 73-win Warriors where he memorably stopped Steph Curry at the end of Game 7. As he aged, Love remained a solid bench scorer and leader for the Cavs. Although the UCLA product entered the NBA with big expectations, he surpassed almost all of them due to his professionalism and combination of skill, shooting, and rebounding to forge a Hall of Fame-caliber career.
