Taken with the eighth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, great things were expected out of Christian McCaffrey (aka CMC) from day one. The Stanford product has since exceeded all expectations and become one of the most dynamic and versatile playmakers in the NFL. He has quickly put up unreal stats and broken many league records, becoming the all-purpose weapon that the Panthers’ offense sorely needed before being traded to the 49ers in 2022.
Born and raised in Colorado, McCaffrey took his talents to Stanford, where he played three remarkable seasons and set numerous school records. His incredible athleticism and dedication to football have propelled his game to unbelievable heights, the highest point coming in 2019 when he had one of the greatest individual seasons in NFL history. That year, he touched the ball over 400 times for almost 2,400 total yards, ultimately finishing third in Offensive Player of the Year voting.
While C-Mac is one of the best playmakers in the NFL, his injuries unfortunately stacked up. He missed an abundance of games early in his career, but when healthy, he has the ability to completely take over a game. His rushing ability is matched by few, and his receiving ability surpasses that of every other Running Back in the NFL. In 2020, McCaffrey signed a four-year contract with Carolina worth $64 million, which was the largest salary ($16M AAV) ever for a Running Back at the time.
