The NL East is quickly emerging as the most exciting division in baseball to watch as another couple divisional games led to climatic results with some walk-offs and clutch shots. Brady Singer also captured the sports world’s attention with his near no-hitter on a day that was supposed to be reserved for NFL Opening Day and the NBA Playoffs.

Down by three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, the Miami Marlins stepped up against the Phillies thanks to Starling Marte’s clutch game-tying hit before Jorge Alfaro’s walk-off knock to get the fish back into the mix of a highly-competitive NL Wild Card race

The reigning champs have had far from a honeymoon season in a shortened 2020. DC’s biggest weakness from last year (bullpen) has returned in a big way once again on Thursday as Freddie Freeman punished Will Harris’ offering to tie the game in the 7th before Dansby Swanson took Tanner Rainey deep for the lead in the 8th.

The story of the day in the MLB was almost about Brady Singer’s no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians. The Royals rookie almost exited the 8th inning with a no-hitter intact, but newly acquired Indian Austin Hedges ruined history and left Singer with a one-hit game through eight innings with eight strikeouts.

Boston Red Sox top prospect Bobby Dalbec has impressed considerably during his first 10 career games as he’s already tied a franchise record with a home run in his fifth consecutive game. One more would set the new Red Sox record.

Known more for his power bat than his arm, the Rangers slugger certainly doesn’t lack arm strength as he displayed during this great double play that included a good catch at the wall and an even better throw to first base.

During Roberto Clemente Day on Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals didn’t play any games. Fellow Puerto Rican Yadier Molina honored the hometown hero Clemente by wearing his iconic #21 on Thursday and blasted a bomb to show the ultimate sign of respect.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
