Tuesday saw Vladimir Guerrero Jr. put on an absolute show with three HRs and seven RBIs vs. the Nationals. The performance set multiple records, as Vlad Jr. appears to have as bright of a future as any player in the Majors. Also, Anfernee Simons tied the NBA record for most consecutive made 3’s, proving that his shooting stroke can match his exceptional dunking abilities. Luka’s huge game propelled Dallas to a blowout win over the Warriors, PSO showcased Ja’Marr Chase’s NFL scouting report, and Nolan Ryan broke the all-time K’s record on this day in 1983 with the 3,509th strikeout of his career.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made MLB history with his 3-HR, 7-RBI performance
Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. put on a power display vs. the Nationals, blasting three home runs and seven RBIs in the Blue Jays’ 9-5 victory. Even more impressive, he did it against Washington ace, Max Scherzer, who had only given up 1 earned run in 19 innings over his previous three starts.

At 22 years, 42 days old, Guerrero became the youngest player to hit three home runs, including a grand slam, in MLB history along with being the second youngest player over the past 50 seasons to record a 3-HR game. He is the youngest player in franchise history to hit three homers in a game as well as the youngest Blue Jay to record three career grand slams, and the youngest player ever with 3 HR & 7 RBI during a single game. Also of note, his Hall of Fame father, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., never recorded three home runs in one outing during his illustrious career.
Vlad Jr. is off to an explosive start since debuting three seasons ago at just 20 years old. He is hitting .360 with a majors-leading seven home runs along with 19 RBIs while sporting an OBP of .484, a .693 SLG, and an OPS of 1.177. He is firmly in the conversation of best young players in the game along with the likes of Fernando Tatis Jr., Ronald Acuna Jr., and Juan Soto to name a few, giving baseball plenty of young superstar talents to take over as the faces of MLB in the near future.

ANFERNEE SIMONS CAN SHOOT AS WELL AS HE CAN DUNK
Anfernee Simons made a name for himself during this year’s All-Star break, where he showed off his 40+ inch vertical leap and was crowned the dunk contest champion. In Portland’s matchup with Indiana on Tuesday night, he made it very clear that he is more than just a dunker, as he can also be a knockdown shooter as well.
Simons had a season-high 27 points to lead Portland in scoring. He scored every single one of his points from deep. Heading into the half, Simons was 4-4 from three, and made his next five, finishing 9-10 from beyond the arc on the night. Those nine trey balls are only one shy of Damian Lillard’s franchise record (10) during one game and tied the all-time NBA record for the most consecutive 3PM (13) without a miss, as he entered the game making all four of his most recent 3PA.
The 21-year-old Simons is in his third full season after being drafted in the first round by the Blazers in 2018. He’s only been getting 16.3 minutes per game this season but was left in for 24 on Tuesday night thanks to his hot hand. Simons has now made it known that he can light it up from deep, and could use his performance versus Indy to start seeing more minutes. The high-hopper has shown there’s more to his game than just kissing the rim.
