October 5th, 2021 was highlighted by the Boston Red Sox beating the Yankees in the AL Wild Card Game as Nathan Eovaldi dominated while Gerrit Cole was pulled early after allowing two early bombs to Xander Bogaerts and Kyle Schwarber. Giancarlo Stanton was inches away from two MORE home runs himself (three total) but they both hit off the Green Monster in Left Field instead with one of them turning into a massive relay out at the plate. 

In the middle of the AL Wild Card Game, the Dallas Cowboys surprisingly released LB Jaylon Smith, legendary PF/C Pau Gasol called it a career, while Atlanta’s promising CB Isaiah Oliver is done for the year (knee injury). The Colorado Rockies extended Antonio Senzatela and C.J. Cron plus the Chicago Bears acquired RS Jakeem Grant from the Miami Dolphins for a 2023 sixth round pick.

1950: To assign players from the defunct Chicago Stags franchise, the NBA had teams randomly drew lots from a hat. The Boston Celtics lucked into eventual 6x NBA Champion PG Bob Cousy

1922: Game 2 of the World Series between the New York Giants and New York Yankees ended in a controversial 2-2 tie after 10 innings. The NY Giants would win the series 4-0-1
