1987: Boston Red Sox SP Tom Seaver retired after 20 years with a career record of 311-205, a 2.86 ERA, and 3,640 strikeouts as a 1st ballot Hall of Famer who remains the Mets all-time leader in numerous categories including Wins (198), Ks (2,541), and IP (3,045.2)
