2017: During the 2017 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers infamously drafted SG Markelle Fultz No.1 overall while Boston traded away that pick for the No.3 pick to select SF Jayson Tatum. The Chicago Bulls also traded SG Jimmy Butler and the 16th overall pick (Justin Patton) to Minnesota for SG Zach LaVine, PG Kris Dunn, and the 7th overall pick (PF Lauri Markkanen) 

2006: Florida Marlins 3B Miguel Cabrera memorably swung at an intentional ball that was close enough to the strike zone to avoid getting intentionally walked. It worked out for Miggy who roped it up the middle for an RBI single

1994: Houston Rockets defeated the New York Knicks in Game 7 to win their 1st Championship in franchise history behind Hakeem Olajuwon who became the 1st internationally born Finals MVP in NBA history

1994: New York Mets RP John Franco earned his 253rd career save, breaking Dave Righetti’s record for saves by a LHP. He still holds the record at 424 (5th most all-time, 2nd most when he retired)

1990: Atlanta Braves replaced MGR Russ Nixon with future HOF Bobby Cox, who would lead the team to a record 14 consecutive division titles

1987: San Antonio Spurs selected future HOF David Robinson with the 1st overall pick in the NBA Draft, but he would not play until 1989 to fulfill his active duty obligation with the Navy. Chicago drafted SF Scottie Pippen 5th overall and the Pacers took SG Reggie Miller with the 11th overall pick

1987: Boston Red Sox SP Tom Seaver retired after 20 years with a career record of 311-205, a 2.86 ERA, and 3,640 strikeouts as a 1st ballot Hall of Famer who remains the Mets all-time leader in numerous categories including Wins (198), Ks (2,541), and IP (3,045.2)
