Teams that ride hot streaks are tough to beat. The Atlanta Braves are now in the World Series after a rough start to their regular season, however they’ve been as dominant as anyone since the trade deadline. In Game 1, they knocked Houston groundball specialist Framber Valdez out of the game in three innings after flipping the script on Valdez and hitting the ball in the air, leading to the Astros going deep into their bullpen with potential drastic consequences. The Braves hot streak is legit and could help them win their first title in 26 years.

ATLANTA TURNED THE MLB’S BEST GROUNDBALL MACHINE INTO A HR DERBY PITCHER

In Game 1 of the 2021 World Series, the Braves lineup made Houston Starting Pitcher Framber Valdez look like Dave Jauss throwing Home Run Derby to Pete Alonso. Jorge Soler started the game with a solo Home Run and the rest of the offense heated up, building off their momentum from the NLCS with Eddie Rosario‘s hot streak. The second half of the Braves lineup continues to find a way to hit the ball in the air, with help from their new outfield.

Framber Valdez had the highest ground ball rate ever recorded in 2021, but that ended up being no problem for the Braves offense. They have sluggers one through nine in the batting order and had breakout seasons from players like Austin Riley in 2021. Despite losing ace Charlie Morton for the rest of the series, who was forced to leave the game with a fracture fibula in the third inning, the Braves have all the momentum thanks to turning Valdez’s biggest strength (inducing groundballs) into his biggest weakness.
