As Miami Heat fans celebrate Bam Adebayo on his 25th birthday, check out some of the best records to know about the legendary Big Man!

Bam Adebayo was selected 14th overall by the Miami Heat in the 2017 NBA Draft. The 6’9, 255-pound big man showed a ton of promise in his early days with Miami and signed an appropriate rookie contract with the franchise. After a couple of developmental seasons, Adebayo became a Miami legend by utilizing his athleticism and versatility on both sides of the ball.

The North Carolina native chose to play at the University of Kentucky, where he joined fellow freshmen Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox. Adebayo was a hot commodity out of high school and ranked fifth in the 2016 recruiting class. Bam was a one-and-done player at Kentucky and helped the Wildcats in their March Madness run to the Elite Eight before declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft where he was became a rare lottery pick on a Miami Heat team known for their lower-drafted, chip-on-the-shoulder type players.

The Heat took a chance on Adebayo, as scouts feared his upside was limited due to raw athleticism over polish and technique. Adebayo quickly proved all NBA scouts wrong with a breakout season in 2020 that led to an All-Star appearance and a Heat NBA Finals run where his defensive capabilities were on full display with a legendary block on Jayson Tatum to end ECF Game 1.

The lanky big man signed a five-year max contract extension with the Heat in November of 2020 and became a fan favorite due to his tremendous work ethic, positive locker room presence, and impressive records that continue to grow as he reaches his sky-high ceiling in South Beach.
