NFL Week 2 featured many games coming down to the wire and a plethora of notable injuries as well. While Lamar Jackson finally picked up his first win over Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs, other teams around the league came up with huge victories as well. The Raiders started 2-0 over playoff teams for the first time in the Super Bowl era, Tampa Bay made history with their ninth consecutive win with 30+ points as Tom Brady looks as unstoppable ever.

Justin Fields got his first extended action after Andy Dalton went down for a win, Mac Jones demolished Zach Wilson’s Jets for his first career W, and Sam Darnold is now 2-0 with Carolina after beating the division-rival Saints. The Rams survived the Colts comeback while Arizona fended off the Vikings after a missed GW-FGA. Brett Maher and Randy Bullock delivered GW-FG’s for the Cowboys and Titans. Nobody picked up a bigger victory than Buffalo who’s 35-0 win over Miami was their largest shutout win since 1992.

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS ARE POISED TO BE BETTER THAN ANYONE EXPECTED

The Las Vegas Raiders impressed as much as any team in NFL Week 2. After a chaotic first victory on Monday Night Football, expectations were not high for the Silver and Black coming off a short week facing the best defense in the NFL (+5.5). While it didn’t hurt to see Pittsburgh’s most dominant player T.J. Watt exit early with an injury, the Raiders earned their Week 2 victory in the Steel City. Derek Carr is off to a historic start to the season and found Henry Ruggs for a 60-yd TD that put it away in the fourth quarter.

The Raiders have beat two of the top teams the AFC has to offer in Baltimore and Pittsburgh and have a great chance of being one of the seven teams in the Conference remaining at the end of the season. Oddsmakers oddly set their season win total over/under at only seven wins so they now only need six more wins to beat that threshold. With the way Carr has looked, the pass rush has gelled together, and the young weapons emerging, the Raiders look like a team poised to exceed all expectations and be a 2021 contender.
