A good first impression can mean everything; just ask ex-Chicago Cubs Anthony RizzoJavier Báez, and Kris Bryant. A historic MLB trade deadline saw the young trio get split up just five years after winning the World Series in 2016, with Rizzo being sent to the New York Yankees, Báez going to the New York Mets, and Bryant joining the San Francisco Giants. All three are off to fantastic starts with their new ball clubs as they each hit a home run in their post-trade debuts.

  • Rizzo, Báez, and Bryant are the 1st trio to each homer in their debuts with new teams after starting the season on the same team
  • 2021 saw the most current All-Stars (10) moved at the trade deadline in MLB history
  • Anthony Rizzo is the 1st Yankees player to record 2+ Hits & 1+ HR during each of his 1st 2 GP with the team in franchise history

CUBS FORMER STAR TRIO MADE MLB HISTORY WITH THEIR DEBUT HOME RUNS

The Yankees, Mets, and Giants knew they were trading for talented players from the Cubs, but no one expected the impacts of these recent acquisitions to be this immediate. It remains to be seen whether Rizzo, Báez, and Bryant can continue to provide a necessary boost to their new clubs as they push toward the playoffs, but it is clear that they can all contribute significantly both offensively and defensively. Meanwhile, the Cubs seem to be on the outside looking in as they seek to retool and rebuild for the future.

  • Rizzo crushed this go-ahead HR

  • Báez blast led to comeback win

  • Kris Giant completed the trifecta
