During Saturday’s matchups across the NBA, the favorites fended off their opponents in seven of the eight games. The only favorite unable to do so was San Antonio, who lost to a shorthanded Indiana team in the only overtime game of the night as TJ McConnell and Myles Turner stepped up big-time in the final possessions to put the Spurs away.

After losing grip of their lead with under two minutes to go, Milwaukee managed to escape Sacramento with a one-point victory thanks to Jrue Holiday’s season-high 33 points with Giannis a last-minute stratch. Joel Embiid made his return from injury and got chippy with Karl-Anthony Towns yet again. Despite KAT’s monster jam on Embiid, Philly secured the home victory.

Utah set the NBA record for three-pointers made in a half on their way to destroying Orlando for another home win. Miami played a solid wire-to-wire contest in their victory over Cleveland for their fourth straight win. Dallas comfortably took care of DC with 26 points from Luka Doncic, and in a pair of 40+ point blowouts, New York dismantled Detroit, and Portland punished OKC out West.

NBA TOP PERFORMERS

KAT IS DONE WITH BEING LABELED AS “SOFT”

Karl-Anthony Towns put together an all-around dominant performance in Saturday night’s clash with Philadelphia. He did this against the league’s best Center, Joel Embiid, who returned from injury after missing ten games due to a bone bruise in his left knee. KAT shot better from the field and three-point line, as well as had more points, rebounds, and assists than Embiid did as the clear top performer in the game. On top of all this, he threw down a monster jam right on Embiid’s head.

In recent matchups between the two, there have been some heated exchanges, including ejections. They’ve even beefed on social media. Now, these interactions have only been occurring in recent years, and it is probable that the fire was lit by an ex-teammate of them both, Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler notoriously left Minnesota after calling KAT and the rest of the team “soft” and ended up in Philly with Embiid. Butler and Embiid quickly became good buddies, and since this friendship, Embiid and KAT’s beef has taken off from there as Butler likely got Embiid on the “KAT is soft” train. KAT showed on Saturday that he’s clearly tired of this label, as represented by his performance over the league’s best Center on Saturday night, as well as his emphatic slam that nobody “soft” could accomplish.

KAT’s mentality has changed massively since teaming up with Butler, and he’s on a vengeance tour to show off his new mindset. It’s only a matter of time before the Wolves turn into a contender once D-Lo comes back healthy and Towns can prove he’s about it when it matters in the postseason.
