Most people might not want to see it, but the Houston Astros are at least four games away from appearing in another World Series. Much of the team’s notoriety has come from their sign-stealing scandal. Nevertheless the 2017-2021 Houston Astros tied the 1971-1975 Oakland Athletics for the most consecutive ALCS appearances ever. The Astros have had a historic five year run that continues to pay off for a veteran team that finds ways to win, with or without illegally stealing signs.

HOUSTON ASTROS HAVE HAD A HISTORIC 5-YEAR RUN THAT’S STILL GOING STRONG

COLORS KEY | FULL ASTROS OUTLOOK

Teams don’t often have as much success over five-year periods as the Houston Astros have. Starting in 2017, they are the second team to have five straight ALCS appearances since the 1971-75 Oakland Athletics. It’s a testament to Houston’s front office that they have figured out how to keep their core under contract for a good amount of time until this offseason when Carlos Correa potentially hits free agency.

Led by Correa, Jose Altuve, and Alex Bregman, the Astros have a tremendous infield core, allowing the team to be continuous contenders. Led by a potent offense and underrated pitching staff, Houston can rival any opponent. The battle against the Red Sox in the ALCS is going to be a great matchup as Houston gets their chance at revenge to take down the one team that beat them in the playoffs during this historic run without needing all seven games to do it.
