Even at the age of 37, Joey Votto is on one of the best hot streaks of his potential HOF career. The Cincinnati Reds star first baseman blasted a solo shot in the sixth inning against the Mets on Friday night, extending his streak to seven consecutive games with a home run. If Votto is able to stretch his HR streak to eight straight games in Saturday night’s contest against the Mets, he will not only tie the MLB record but will also further cement his status as one of the most prolific sluggers in Reds history.

  • 1st Reds player to hit 9+ HR over a 7-GP span in franchise history
  • Matched Barry Bonds for the t-most consecutive GP (7) with 1+ HR among players 37 or older in MLB history
  • 1st Canadian player to hit a HR during 7+ consecutive GP in MLB history
  • Most consecutive GP (6) with a HR in Reds franchise history

JOEY VOTTO’S HISTORIC HR STREAK ADDS TO HIS ALL-TIME REDS LEGACY

COLORS KEY | FULL REDS OUTLOOK

Joey Votto has been one of the premier hitters for the Cincinnati Reds since making his debut with the organization in 2007. The 6x All-Star and 2010 NL MVP made history by becoming the first Reds player and the oldest player in MLB history with a homer in seven consecutive games. He’s one game shy of being the fourth player ever to homer in eight straight games, joining Ken Griffey Jr.Don Mattingly, and Dale Long. Doing so would only further etch Votto’s name into Reds lore among the likes of Pete Rose and Frank Robinson.
