After the Green Bay Packers vs. Cincinnati Bengals game on Sunday, Mason Crosby said that he was excited about the win and that “you gotta take joy in the moments.” For fans of both teams, there was little joy in the last 10 minutes of the game as both kickers combined to miss five field goal attempts in that time. That mark surpassed the previous NFL record of three missed field goals in the final three minutes of regulation or overtime.

The last seven possessions of the game ended with three straight missed field goals, followed by an interception from Joe Burrow, and two more missed field goals before Crosby finally hit the game-winning field goal. Crosby had previously missed his last three field goal attempts, with Evan McPherson having the other two misses. The two kickers will go down in history of having one of the worst combined kicking performances in a game in NFL history that represented an all-time awful week for Kickers across the league.

  • 2021 Week 5 had the most combined missed XPA (13) across the NFL during 1 Week in the Super Bowl era (1967)
  • Packers vs. Bengals was the 1st game with 3+ missed FGA in the entire 4th Qtr/OT since at least 1991
  • Before missing 3 straight FGA, Crosby’s 27 consecutive FGM was the longest streak in Green Bay Packers history

KICKERS HAD AN ALL-TIME AWFUL DAY ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10TH

COLORS KEY | FULL PACKERS OUTLOOK

The Green Bay-Cincinnati game featured the worst kicking performance of the week in the NFL by far, as no two kickers have ever combined for three missed field goals in the last three minutes of regulation or overtime in NFL history before these team’s two Kickers couldn’t convert on five clutch FGA. Mason Crosby nearly fell apart to lose the game, missing three straight field goals after making the previous 27 in a row, which was a Packers franchise record.

Crosby and McPherson seemed to spread their poor kicking throughout the rest of the league, as kickers combined to miss 13 PATs, breaking an NFL record for missed PATs in one week. New Orleans Saints’ Cody Parkey missed 2 PATs, Houston Texans’ Ka’imi Fairbairn missed 3 kicks, and Jacksonville Jaguars’ Matthew Wright missed 2 kicks as well. NFL kickers were all over the history books this weekend, though unlike Justin Tucker’s record-setting field goal in Week 3, it was for missed kicks.
