Retaliating from a pitiful shooting night from deep, the Lakers set sail to dock their vessel at a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Finals. Los Angeles capsized Denver on their voyage in part to strong showings from the Lakers leading crew members Anthony Davis and King James. If the Californian head honchos keep up their effective play, they’ll motor past Murray’s miraculous layups in no time.

Who other than Anthony Davis to be the captain of the Lakers’ ship to guide them to their 52nd win this season when leading entering the fourth quarter? Los Angeles was 51-0 this season when entering the final frame with a lead, and that didn’t change after this Game 4 despite Jamal Murray’s best efforts. Davis answered the call as the skipper amongst sailors with his substantial takes from mid-range and the painted area, bouncing back from a twisted ankle in the fourth quarter.

Jamal Murray summoned Michael Jordan’s finishing ability on an impeccable layup and proceeded to get innovative with a couple other nuanced touches around the rim which contained a hint of his own personal flavor.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are the leaders of this Nuggets team, with the Joker already a proven All-Star and Murray breaking out right alongside him (26.5 PPG in the postseason). However, Michael Porter Jr. could one day become the best Denver player of them all. The Missouri hooper has the talent and skills to be a special player in the NBA and showed that lofty potential on this smooth step-back over Kyle Kuzma.

A rejuvenated Dwight Howard received the starting nod Thursday and he capped off a first-half double-double, his first in the postseason since 2017, on this punishing put-back slam that he converted in addition to the foul.

Deep into the thick of battle in the third quarter, a supporting character from LA’s cast, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope entered the scene with a crisp baseline drive to the hole making his cameo appearance count as he rose up over Jokic.

The Western Conference finalists, Mile High Nuggets and LA Lakers hit the ground running in Game 4 with healthy doses of lethal offense as Anthony Davis decimated Denver’s defense. AD’s scoring activity matched that of Jamal Murray’s, but it was enough for the Lake Show to stay in command of the series, putting the Nuggets in a familiar 3-1 hole that they’ve crawled out of two different times this postseason.
