San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford is staying at home in the Bay. The team announced Friday that the two sides have agreed to a two-year, $32 million contract extension through the 2023 season. As a centerpiece of the Giants’ infield for the past 11 seasons, Crawford has already established himself as one of the best shortstops in franchise history with the records and hardware to prove it.

Even at the age of 34, Brandon Crawford somehow keeps getting better. The 3x All-Star is having one of the best offensive seasons of his career, posting a .296 batting average with 19 home runs. Paired with his reliable defensive play as a 3x Gold Glove winner, the former UCLA product has been a staple in the Giants infield since making his debut in 2011.

Crawford, now signed through 2023, will likely go down as the best Giants shortstop ever if he’s not already there. He has played the most games and is near the top of the leaderboard in almost every category among SS in franchise history. The 2x World Series champ has cemented his legacy in the Bay on the all-time Giants team and this contract will give him further opportunities to move to the top of every all-time franchise category among Giants Shortstops.
