Here is the best from August 15, 2019:

In the most exciting walk-off HR in recent memory, Bryce Harper capped off a 6-run 9th inning while trailing 5-1 entering the inning. His fast-paced rounding of the bases summed up the electricity in the air.

The NFL dropped their 100th season hype tape and it is fuego.

What Ronald Acuna is doing this month is insane. If he keeps it going for the 2nd half of the month, MLB records will be shattered, MVP races will be shaken up, and the exclusive 40/40 club might introduce a new member.

Here are the best highlights from Thursday’s NFL Preseason action:

  • Haskins 1st TD a DIME

  • Hundley dime in double coverage

  • Lamar Jackson has moves, moves

  • 96yd PICK-6 by Nicholson

In what was once a two-man race between Bellinger & Yelich has now turned into a four-way showdown. While the only reigning MVP of the quartet was quiet on Thursday, the other 3 made it interesting. Related: MLB Highlights

Carlos Correa and Kyle Schwarber each hit their 100th career Home Run on Thursday. Besides both being two young stars, they also shared a night of history. For Correa, he’s the only Astros SS ever to reach 100 HRs while no Cubs player has ever gotten to 100 HR’s quicker than Schwarber.

The Oakland Athletics & Houston Astros combined for 10 HRs (5 each) that set the all-time record at Oakland Coliseum, established 53 years ago.

Most Cubs fans aren’t fans of Yu Darvish after his 6yr/$126M has seemingly backfired in the 1st year-and-a-half of the contract. However, since the All-Star break, Darvish has been back to his old dominant self, and continued that with a shutout performance in Philadelphia.

This part isn’t exactly fitting in “The Best in Sports,” but it was meaningful and a major topic forever linked to the date of August 15, 2019. DeMarcus Cousins’s third serious injury in as many years received most of the headlines, but relied upon CBs Robert Alford (ARZ) & Tavon Young (BAL) each suffered their own significant injuries.
