Joel Embiid was heavily inspired by Kobe Bryant as a kid coming from Africa (similar to Bryant’s journey from Italy) and aspired to dominate the NBA one day like Kobe did. A couple days after Kobe’s passing, Embiid got Philly legend Bobby Jones’ approval to wear his retired #24 jersey in Philly to honor Kobe’s legacy, the impact he’s had on him, and solidified it with his 24th and final point coming on a signature Kobe Bryant midrange fadeaway.
