Here is the best from January 29, 2020:

Victor Oladipo made his triumphant return to the court in Indiana after a year-long absence to face the Chicago Bulls. Despite the minutes restriction, Oladipo was in there at the end and drained the clutch game-tying 3pt to force OT and lead Indy to a victory, in an event he tributed to Kobe.

Dame always rises to the occasion when facing Russell Westbrook, and Wednesday was no different as he tied their career series at 13 wins each and recorded his first career triple-double in the process.

On the same week of Kobe passing away, DeMar DeRozan (who’s noted Bryant’s impactful influence on his game) put up his career high with the Spurs on one of the best defenses in the NBA to lead his team to an upset victory.

Carmelo Anthony is one of the greatest scorers of this generation. Any real NBA fan over the last decade knows that. Now, NBA fans over the next 20, 50, 100 plus years will know that as well, as the legendary Syracuse product keeps passing greats like Kevin Garnett and moving up the all-time scoring list.

Jarrett Allen has started to build a legacy of getting major blocks, but on this play it was Drummond who got the best of him and flushed it home for a thunderous dunk that is sure to go on ‘Dre’s career highlight reel.

Ja Morant continues to show his rare traits and abilities that could one day help elevate him into the MVP race and among the NBA greats.

It’s rare to point out a certain’s teams highlights of the night in the Best in Sports column, but all the other high-quality highlights deserved their own slot (Damian, Drummond, Morant, etc.). These Nets highlights from their first home game since Kobe’s passing were worthy of their own spot as well.

No Manager will face more adversity in 2020 than the Astros Manager no matter who it ended up being, thanks to the recent sign stealing scandal. Houston made the announcement that veteran Skipper Dusty Baker will take over in H-Town on a 1-year rental type deal to take the heat while it’s the hottest in Texas.

The Knicks have been one of the most disappointing and embarassing franchises in the 21st century. It might not be a coincidence that this timeline is in line with James Dolan’s reign as team owner. That reign hit an all-time low on January 29th, 2020 when a brawl ensued from frustration of another blowout loss, fans blatantly chanting “Sell the team” at Dolan, their best player making an offensive statement, and a multi-billion dollar organization doesn’t even have the water on in the opposing locker room. Knicks fans, it might be time to hop on another team’s bandwagon, nobody can be shamed for that at this point.

Carmelo’s made it clear this season isn’t “a damn farewell tour,” but on Wednesday, Melo let the world know that Northwest Oregon is the place he wants to call it a career someday.
