All those reps in the mirror as a kid finally paid off.

Gerrit Cole’s dominant 2019 campaign continues with a historic outing. If it wasn’t for teammate Justin Verlander, Cole would likley win the AL Cy Young Award unanimously.

Bruce Bochy is arguably the best active manager alive. As he announced 2019 is his last year, he’ll be walking away as part of the coveted 2,000 win club. A group that’s exclusively for Hall of Famers.

The 2nd best team of the 2nd half continued their hot run with a late-game celebration for their 8th win in 9 games. No team is hotter than Oakland right now.

Like the HR race, the NL Wild Card battle is coming down to the wire and getting exciting. While Pete Alonso is a prominent figure in both competitions, Eugenio Suarez is usually strictly involved in the HR side of things, but helped play spoiler on Wednesday, helping the Mets pull within 3 games of Chicago (and Milwaukee).

The best game of the day featured 2 of the best teams in the bigs. After the Dodgers looked to pull away in the 8th thanks to Bellinger’s shot, Tampa Bay rallied in the 9th and pulled away in the 11th for the comeback victory over the NL champs.

Boston has had a disappointing season as a team, but some of their players are enjoying career seasons. Two of them are Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts. Their 30-HR, 50-2B seasons represent the 1st time teammates have ever done that in the same year.
