The Golden State Warriors, led by Steph Curry’s huge game, made a furious late rally to top the Milwaukee Bucks in Tuesday’s game of the day. This game further emphasized how much GS relies on phenomenal performances like this from Curry just to compete, a far cry from the stacked Warriors teams that ran roughshod over the league from 2015-19. Also, Nikola Jokic hit a ridiculous spinning fadeaway shot vs. Detroit, the Hawks were historically great in the 3rd Quarter of their win over New Orleans, and PSO gives its second scouting report of the NFL Draft season for playmaking TCU S Trevon Moehrig.

Here is the best of the day from April 6, 2021:

Steph’s 41-point explosion led Warriors comeback over the Giannis-less Bucks

Steph Curry scored 41 points, including 30 in the second half, to help the Warriors knock off the Bucks 122-121 on Tuesday. Curry’s explosion sparked Golden State’s rally from a 10-point deficit with under five minutes remaining, culminating in Kelly Oubre Jr.‘s clutch go-ahead free throws with 7.7 seconds left to secure the win. Oubre finished with 19 points while Kent Bazemore chipped in with 18 off the bench, as the Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak.

This win was massive for the Warriors, who are hanging on in the final spot for the play-in tournament, something that would have been unfathomable just a couple years ago. At just 24-27 with the regular season creeping closer to conclusion, Golden State will need to string together some wins if they want to any chance at competing past mid-May, let alone into June.

Milwaukee was without 2x reigning league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who sat out the game due to knee soreness. The Bucks still nearly pulled off the road win, thanks to big games from their other top players, as Jrue Holiday finished with 29 points while Khris Middleton scored 28. Now 2.5 GB of the 76ers and Nets, the third place Bucks will need similar performances from Holiday and Middleton to alleviate pressure off Giannis if Milwaukee wants to take the next step and make it to the NBA Finals.

GOLDEN STATE’S ONLY CHANCE AT SURVIVAL IS WITH SUPER STEPH DOWN THE STRETCH

The Golden State Warriors currently sit in 10th place amongst the Western Conference standings. This is not a position this franchise is accustomed to being in given their recent success, especially with only 21 games left in the season. In this abnormal year, 10th is enough to earn them a play-in opportunity, but Golden State is not satisfied with that.

If they are going to turn their season around and climb up the rankings, a lot of the weight will be on the shoulders of the greatest shooter ever, Steph Curry. Unsurprisingly, much of this team’s success rides on Curry to put together consistent performances. This roster is one of the weaker Warriors ones in recent years given the departure of Kevin DurantAndre Iguodala, and the injury to Klay Thompson, but with Curry playing at his peak, anything is possible.

Curry had 41 points against Milwaukee on Tuesday night, 30 of which came in the second half. He shot 50% from three and 66.7% from the field. This was still barely enough to come out with the dub. Chef Curry will have to put together many more of these kinds of ridiculous stat lines to pull his team up the standings and position his squad better come postseason time. Similar to James Harden’s historic run in January 2019 and LeBron during the 2018 playoffs, this next month or two will define how ‘super’ Steph really is.
