Game 3 of the Jazz-Clippers series showed that the Clippers are serious contenders too as Kawhi and Paul George combined for 65 points in a much-needed win. DJ LeMahieu hit a 3-run homer in the ninth inning that sent their game with the Phillies to extra innings. Jacob deGrom shattering basically every record in the book was put on full display in the PSO post of the day. June 12th also marked the 10th anniversary of the Mavericks winning their first NBA Championship after defeating the Big 3 Heat in six games.

Here is the best of the day from June 12, 2021:

Kawhi & Paul George combined for 65 points to save LAC’s season in Game 3 win

The Clippers needed to win Game 3 to have any chance of taking the series, and they did just that. Behind Kawhi’s 34 points and Paul George’s 31, the Clips won Game 3 comfortably after dropping the first two games of the series. Clippers finally shot the ball well from behind the arc as they made 52.8% of their 3 PT attempts in Game 3 compared to shooting below 40% in the first two games of the series.

Donovan Mitchell still put up 30 points but midway through the fourth quarter Mitchell tweaked his ankle and did not return to the game. Game 4 will be played June 14 in LA where the Clips will have a chance to even the series before it goes back to Utah as each team has won at home so far after the Clippers’ previous series was the complete opposite.

KAWHI LEONARD IS THE BEST ALL-AROUND PLAYER IN CLIPPERS HISTORY

The LA Clippers got a much needed win back in their home arena, which they were only 1-3 at this postseason heading into Saturday’s matchup. Donovan Mitchell continued his streak of 30+ points in every game this series, but the Clips were too strong offensively. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George combined for 65 points, nearly half of the team’s total. The entire squad shot the deep ball at an outstanding clip (52.8%), beating the Jazz at their own game.

In not even two full seasons with the LA Clippers, Kawhi Leonard has established himself as their best all-around player in franchise history. He fills out the stat sheet consistently, saved their season, and potentially even a massive roster shakeup in Game 7 vs. Dallas. After just 23 playoff games, he’s the fourth leading scorer in the franchise’s postseason history.

Leonard has come up huge night in and night out for LA on both ends, and is the reason they find themselves where they’re at now thanks to his two-way excellence and ability to take over games on each end of the floor. He’s already proving himself as the best all-around player in Los Angeles Clippers history and with some more postseason success and years with the team, he could be the unanimous greatest player to ever don a Clippers uniform with his #2 hanging up in the rafters of Staples Center one day.
