The NBA released the selections for their 1st and 2nd team All-Defense. Kawhi and Paul George have taken over their series with Utah in the last two games. The 76ers-Hawks series provided another nail-biter with the Hawks evening up the series behind Trae Young‘s phenomenal performance. June 14th marked the 23rd anniversary of MJ‘s “The Last Shot” to win his sixth NBA Finals in eight years.

Here is the best of the day from June 14, 2021:

The NBA’s 1st team all-defense consisted of Rudy Gobert, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Draymond Green, Jrue Holiday, and Ben Simmons. The 2nd team all-defense was made up of Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, and Matisse Thybulle. The players who just missed the cut were Mikal Bridges, Clint Capela, Myles Turner, Marcus Smart, and Luguentz Dort. The 76ers had the most all-defense selection across the league with three. Both the Heat and Bucks had two all-defense selections, with the Bucks having both of theirs on the 1st team.

THE BEST 2-WAY WINGS IN THE WEST BOTH PLAY FOR THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

The LA Clippers rode a 17-point first-quarter lead to even the series at two apiece, successfully defending their home court. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard were outstanding on both ends of the floor, scoring 31 points each for the Clips. Donovan Mitchell had his sixth straight game of 30 or more but didn’t shoot at a high clip from the field, going 9-26. Every home team has won thus far in the series, and they will head back to Utah to begin a best of three for a spot in the conference finals.

LA has now beat Utah by double-digits in both of their home games, but ironically struggled to defend their own court against Dallas in the previous series. Kawhi and PG have each scored 31+ points in both of their home games this series so far, and are getting the job done on the defensive end as well. They both embody a true two-way wing, showcasing the capability to shut someone down on one end and give them a bucket on the other. They’re the best in the West and luckily for LAC fans, they play on the same team.
