1991: Detroit Pistons PG Isiah Thomas passed Bob Lanier (15,488) as the franchise’s leading scorer. In 13 seasons with Detroit, Thomas would become arguably the greatest Piston ever, leading the franchise in all-time PTS (18,822), AST (9,061) and STL (1,861)

1991: PG Isiah Thomas passed Bob Lanier to became the Detroit Pistons’ all-time leading scorer with 15,493 points. Thomas finished with 18,822 career PTS which remains at the top of Detroit’s leaderboard

1981: Los Angeles Lakers C Kareem Abdul-Jabbar passed Oscar Robertson to move into 2nd place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list

1971: Eventual HOFer Ernie Banks officially retired as a player but immediately signed a contract to continue serving on the Cubs’ coaching staff
