2008: Denver Nuggets SF Carmelo Anthony tied George Gervin’s NBA record for points in a quarter by scoring 33 in the 3rd quarter of a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves (45 total points)

2006: San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson tied and broke the NFL record for the most TD (29) scored in a single-season, surpassing Shaun Alexander’s record (28) from the previous year. Tomlinson added 2 more TD the next week with 31 still standing as the NFL record

1996: Detroit Pistons PF Terry Mills’ NBA-record streak of 13 straight successful 3PAs finally ended in a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks

1994: New York Jets WR Art Monk made a reception in his 178th consecutive game, setting a new NFL record

1989: Seattle Seahawks WR Steve Largent caught his 100th career TD pass to become the NFL’s all-time leader

1985: Indiana Pacers converted just 19 FGs in a loss to the New York Knicks, the least in the NBA’s shot clock era

1972: The AL voted to adopt a 3-year trial of the designated-hitter rule; it would be permanently adopted in 1975

1972: St. Louis Cardinals QB Jim Hart completed a 98-yard pass to rookie WR Ahmad Rashad (Bobby Moore), the longest non-scoring play in NFL history
