1941: Future HOF OF Stan Musial made his MLB debut for the St. Louis Cardinals at age 20, recording 2 hits and RBIs en route to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Braves

1920: The American Pro Football Association (re-named NFL in 1922) was formed in Canton, Ohio as 12 teams each paid a $100 membership fee 

1917: One of the greatest players of baseball’s early generation, Pittsburgh Pirates SS Honus Wagner announced his retirement and the club immediately retired his jersey (#33)
